2 Days 7 Hours 35 Minutes –> Release Of Final Fantasy XIII 5 FF’s Left To Beat –> 1 Day Off

Final Fantasy VI  is beaten.  The ending, in my opinion, is sub-par.  FF9’s ending is still the best.  Kefka went down like a rock after I realized that I had to kill the lady in the back on tier 3 before I kill the front row.

Moogle
Moogles Will Kill

That’s a picture of the super secret hidden mode in Final Fantasy IX if you call the moogle one too many times to save on the world map.  Don’t Call Him.  He really is sharpening his knife, kupo.

So… it looks like I have 5 FF’s to beat, V, IV, III, II, I.  And a good 56 hours to do it in.

The ‘Setzer Is Awesome’ Section

Ya know… I never gave Setzer a chance before now. And boy was I mistaken. I’m able to get triple 7’s left and right! And all it took was a little research. By using an echo screen, the RNG (random number generator) is used for the smoke animation. This, in combination with Setzers’ Slot attack lets you rig the games skewness for your benefit. As long as the first slot is a 7, the rest are easier; all you have to do is stop the slot 1-4 spots ahead of the following 7. The Crane X 2 boss was demolished by this. HAHAhahaha (Kefka’s laugh)

Celes in the Opera Scene playing as Maria

Not to mention, the first time you meet Setzer, he tries to kidnap Celes thinking she is Maria in the middle of the Opera (in quite a humerous scene might I add)

Setzer is the man

On another important note, Sabin and Edward rock!  The Blitz attack is a lot of fun.  Simple, yet complicated.  and Edwards Tool attack can be devastating!

FFVI 2 Hours In — Procrastination In Full Bloom

Okay… So I’ve been a little busy for the past weekend.  Worked 8 hours on Saturday… cleaned up the house all day on Sunday… I’ve been getting ready for the week at hand.  I knew that if the house was clean, I could actually get some of these FF’s outta the way.  I have essentially one day to beat each one.  *sigh*

The future is looking grim.

Like A Squall Of Wind – Final Fantasy VIII Has Come & Gone

After a full day of playing Final Fantasy VIII yesterday, I now have reached the half-point in my journey.  It is beaten!

I fell asleep last night while playing my PSP right after switching to Disc 3… well, more like passed out.  The PSP ‘was’ on my chest – I woke up in a pile of drool – all of my clothes were still on – all this because I’m a little sleep deprived.  I won’t let a little sleep deprivation get me down!  I have VI more games to finish, and I will be content with playing XIII on release day.

Back to yesterdays progress –> when I finally woke up around 8am, and realised what had happened, I found my PSP on the ground, with the battery pack and cover thrown a few feet from the point of impact.  While I was still trying to gain consciousness, I was quickly trying to put it back together.  Thankfully I saved right after the disc swap.

Laguna’s scenario with fighting the dragon, while humorous… was very annoying.  If you try to block like you did with squall on the helicopter scene, and wait for a deathblow, you will die.  The only way to beat this is to attack quickly, and never block.  So that’s what I did. -.-

This is also one of my favorite scenes.   When Squall is carrying Rinoa down the train tracks.  And he starts to show his feelings to her, then tells her a secret.  Haha, good times.

So helpless... so scared... such graphical prowess... so hot...

The space scene reminds me of why I love this game.  It defines everything that I enjoy.  Great songs.  Great scenery.  Amazing storyline and plot.  And, since I’m very intrigued in outer space, my attention is piqued.  CG scenes up the ass making Rinoa look astounding. *sigh*  wish I didn’t have to hurry along.

The propagators in the Ragnarok took me quite a while.  I forgot how to pwn them… but after that, it was smooth sailing.  I think from that point to the final mansion was a straight hour of gameplay.

Reunited and it feels so good!

Then –

The final dungeon.

Fuck this place.

It took a good 2 hours to get through this masterpiece.  God Damn this fucking place to hell!  Especially the little fucker who hits everyone for 4k HP after he gets hit with anything other than an elemental attack.

Ultimecia had similar traits to that of a whore.  Easy, and sufficient to taking hard hits where she needs it — she also went down on me way too quick 🙂

So, since Final Fantasy VII has already been beaten –> Next up!  Final Fantasy III for the SNES (US version — actually Final Fantasy VI) I tested out my AC adapter and found one that works.  Time for old school mode!

Gotta Stop Teh Missiles — End Of Disc 2

So, while I was away in Buffalo/Lockport, I was able to get a few hours into playing Final Fantasy VIII.  Among these hours, I was able to go through the missile mission.  All the while, I couldn’t help but think about Squalls Death theory.  What if he did die?  It is rather interesting to think this.  I’m seeing the story in a whole new light now.  All of Disc 1 he was worried about dying, and having people talk about him in the past tense.  So he is deathly afraid of death (pun intended)

Not to mention, the story goes crazy after trying to kill the sorceress.  They are thrown into an underground prison in the middle of nowhere.  Missiles are getting shot off at their respective Gardens.  Squall mysteriously becomes the leader of his garden.  All without much reasoning.  It’s like a dream going crazy.  An eternal dream.  Not to mention the rest of the story — We haven’t even gotten to the part where he is able to throw himself in space in a perfect trajectory path to catch the ever-so-lovely Rinoa.  I’m surprised they didn’t try to make out in space since everything else was coming out of left field.

Rinoa... *Sigh*

I’ll have it beat tonight. 🙂

Squall, Meet Squalldane — Let’s Roll

It is time to beat Final Fantasy VIII!  This is definitely going to be close.  I have this, and IV, V, IV, III, II, and I to beat by March 8th at 11:59pm 🙂

Currently I am on Disc 2.  Squall is dead.  Spoony’s thoughtsSquallsDead

Best. Picture. Ever.

I am done with Disc 1 (took 5 hours)  and now it’s time to blaze through it 😀

Squall, Rinoa… Let’s fulfill Laguna and Julias’ destiny!

Kuja, Necron Beaten — Ambalamps Style

Finally… after working all week on defeating the 4 chaos gods, I’ve finally beaten Deathguise, Kuja, and Necron.  Let me just say this.  Beating these guys is no easy task for Level 23-36 characters.  A lot of fucking luck and patience is needed.  There were a few times I had to warp back to the beginning of Memoria so I could travel back and do some shopping for phoenix downs and the like.

Deathguise was a joke.  Either that, or I was lucky on my first attempt.  Kuja and Necron on the other hand took me a while.  I had Auto Life on Zidane, and Zidane had to survive Grand Cross, and then die at Neutron Ring so I can revive Steiner.  Then have Steiner use ‘Charge!’ right after Zidane revives one more person.  Therefore all three attack instantly (because of low health and Charge!)  while Necron uses ‘Blue Shockwave’  which knocks your HP down to 1.  He uses this spell 3 times in a row, which essentially gives me 7-10 attacks after reviving.

Necron -- Help! Hail the amberlamps!

I kicked tha shit outta him so bad, he was calling tha amber lamps!  *See Epic Beard Man on AC Transit*

I beat the game in 14 game hours.

Disc 3 — The Meaning Of Life And Death

So, I’ve blazed through the story of Disc 2 and gone through the Iifa tree.  Now it’s time to finish this up.  I don’t think I will have enough time to get the Excalibur II.  I’m at 9 hours and 28 minutes, and in the Desert Palace with Eiko, Quina, Freya, and Vivi.  Either way, at least I can beat this game by tonight!  It will be finito, and I will move on to Final Fantasy VIII.

I am getting burned out though.  I really need to finish this as soon as possible.  I’m also thinking about getting a save file with all magics in VIII at the beginning of the game so I can just worry about story and progression.  I’ve beaten all these games before, so it isn’t cheating if you’ve beaten it 🙂

Either way, here’s a quote from Vivi.

Vivi Rocks

“Mr 288 told me that I understand what it means to live and to die… But it’s only because I thought stopping was different from dying… I don’t think I really understand what it means to live or to die. Where do we come from…? Do we go back there when we die…? If that’s what it means to live… I wonder where I came from… Where will I end up when I die…? Why am I shaking? What is it I’m feeling…?”

“Get off me you scumbag” ~ Disc 1 Complete

Ahh, it feels so good.  This is such a great game.  Just sucks that I am rushing through it.  I have killed myself many times to make things roll faster.  For example, I killed myself as soon as I could in the Festival of the Hunt to knock out 12 minutes of playthrough.  I killed characters so they wouldn’t talk in battle, I’ve end killed off Quina numerous times.  Mainly because I don’t dislike s/he, but more rather because Quina needs 1 HP for the great Limit Glove to work 🙂

Garnet

Garnet Til Alexandros, the heir to the throne of Alexandria, is so sweet.  My favorite part, ever, is when Zidane is climbing up the ladder of the airship too fast and accidentally touches Garnets booty, haha.  So much character in this game.

Another good part that displays this character is the end of Disc 1.  Freya jumps up a good 100 feet to the top of a building (since she is a dragoon), while Zidane begins to scale the wall.  He then motions to Vivi and Quina to follow him.  Vivi straightens up his hat, prepares to jump, and falls flat on his face ~  poor guy.
